Elysium Protocol cover art / OUT ON DECEMBER 16TH!

The road has been hard and seemingly beyond hope. Yet the Fireseeds and their allies rise against odds, against foes, against the tides of the universe itself. The Scourge war ends here, and nothing will ever be the same.

Elysium Protocol, part 3 of Architects Of The Illusion, drops on December 16th in physical and Kindle formats! You know how sometimes releases will be announced, you’ll look at the calendar and think, “that seems so far away”? Yeah, we’re skipping that part this time. It’s been long enough, so here we go, no more waiting, we are releasing this coming Thursday as of this writing! While I’m unfortunately unable to take preorders, I’ll update this page on release with the links to both physical and digital versions.

This time around, the art was done jointly by Robert Stjärnström and Tomi Skantz, who respectively did the cover art for Seed Of Treachery and The Great Scourge. I really think they captured the video game vibe I’m always trying to hit with Architects.

It seems Eva’s borrowed Curren’s coat. It’s ok, we’re ok. She’ll give it back.

This is a special release day for me, if I can indulge for a moment here. As they say, this one is hittin’ different. With the Scourge war climaxing in EP, this brings us to the endpoint of the very first long-form story arc that I really, truly felt the need to tell. Not the only, by far, but the first. It took shape in various forms over the years, as I stretched my writing wings and scratched through ideas piece by piece, scene by scene, chapter by chapter. So in a way, the core of my writing career, from amateur to professional, has been anchored around the ideas that would become the heart of the arc that finishes with this novel.

Thank you so much, completely and unconditionally, to everyone who was there – be it at the start or now – to give me the dedication and spirit to reach this point. I feel like I’m fulfilling a promise I made to myself most of a lifetime ago.

The Fireseeds aren’t done by a long shot, but this is the biggest milestone in my writing career to this point for what it means to me. It’s been a whopping seven years since the last book, but really, it’s been 19 years of near-constant inspiration, community and drive that’s led me to this. I look back through scenes in this book, and what it gives me is memories: of the songs, or games, or films that I was losing myself in, exiting clock-time and finding that inspiration zone, when I came to the ideas that would ultimately become a lot of these scenes. Of the places I was, of the people who were there to talk, or bounce ideas off of, or just provide encouragement.

I hope you enjoy Elysium Protocol.
